THE HIP PROCESS
If you qualify for HIP, you could get reimbursed for projects that improve your property and protect the lake! Properties with homes in the Lake Whatcom watershed that were not built to current code standards to protect water quality may participate in HIP. Getting started is easy. First, enter your address to see if you qualify. If you do, you’ll be directed to a page that describes the types of HIP projects possible on your property. Follow the directions on that page to get started planning your HIP project today.

HIP projects include beautiful native plantings, rain gardens, drainage upgrades, and more. Staff will help you find the options that work for your property and assist with the application process.
Complete your project
Staff will help connect you to professionals who can help and provide directions on how to do-it-yourself.
Get reimbursed!
Receive a rebate of up to $1.60 per square foot improved for eligible expenses. Your property could qualify for thousands of dollars, or more.
